Fake ironstone marks can copy a crest or body name; an Rd number dates design registration, while foot and handle shapes identify the form.
IRONSTONE CHINA is a body description shared by manufacturers. A maker name, town or registration number adds more specific information. Check whether a printed crest accompanies a real company name rather than treating the crest as the maker.
Compare the spelling, border, size and placement with the manufacturer’s documented marks. A registered-design number dates the registration, not every later production. Keep the foot, handle and decoration in the comparison as well as the stamp.
