Shield pottery mark
Shield devices include Vienna-related barred shields, Nymphenburg forms and royal-arms style trade marks.
Separating the recorded variants
A barred shield can look like a beehive if turned upside down. Compare the direction, internal bars or checks and any crown. The internal design is more useful than the shield outline alone.

Compare the complete maker examples below, including the mark technique and the position of every letter. A painted decorator initial outside a factory emblem and a letter inside the emblem can have different owners and purposes.
